Listen to 50 years old Man Luring 14 years old Daughter of Late Friend to Hotel

A Nigerian family has raised alarm over child safety and parental awareness following the arrest of a man identified as Ernest Obetule, who is alleged to have attempted to s*xually abuse a 14-year-old girl.

According to a family source Amaka Nwakaego Nwaekeoma who posted the story and voice note on her Facebook account, the suspect—described as a man in his 50s—was previously regarded as a trusted family associate. He reportedly attended the burial of the teenager’s late father about a year ago, presenting himself as a close and supportive friend of the family during a period of mourning.

However, the family alleged that the man later attempted to exploit that trust by trying to lure the minor to a hotel under false pretences, with the intention of sexually abusing her.

The alleged plan was uncovered after the teenager reportedly became suspicious and secretly recorded several conversations between herself and the suspect. The recordings were shared with family members, who immediately contacted the authorities.

Sources said the suspect was arrested by law enforcement officers at an agreed meeting location where he was allegedly expecting to meet the minor. Police investigations are currently ongoing.

The family said the decision to make the incident public was aimed at protecting other children and alerting parents to the dangers posed by individuals who disguise themselves as trusted friends or relatives.

They stressed the importance of parents and guardians having open, age-appropriate conversations with their children about personal safety, boundaries, and the need to report inappropriate behaviour—regardless of the gender or relationship of the offender.

Child protection advocates have repeatedly warned that many cases of abuse occur within familiar environments and have urged families to educate children on how to recognise grooming behaviour and speak up without fear.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect remains in police custody, while investigations continue.
